Be a Dreamer AND Achiever!
If attitude and success go hand in hand, why do some people who seem to have a great attitude still fail to achieve success? The answer lies in the words “seem to” These people give lip service to importance having the right attitude, but seldom take the time to ask key questions about their attitudes and the impact they have on their success.
Some Powerful Questions
The following questions can help get you determine if you really have the right attitude, or just “seem to”.
- Do you really believe attitude impacts your success? If so, when was the last time you really looked at your attitudes and the impact they are having on your success?
- Do you do something every day that helps you develop an attitude of achievement? If not, why not?
- Do you have a vision for your life? What is it?
- Do you have a burning desire to accomplish a goal or objective? What is it?
- Do you back up your goals with action? If not, why not?
Desire is the starting point of all achievement
In his book “Think and Grow Rich”, Napoleon Hill said that a burning desire is the starting point of all achievement. While it is true that we must know what we want and have a burning desire to get it. It’s only the starting point.
Action the missing link to achievement
We all know people who seem to have goals, confidence, belief, and a burning desire to be successful, yet they never seem to accomplish their goals. What’s missing? Action! It’s having the courage to take consistent action separates dreamers from achievers. (There’s those words again “seem to”).
Knowing the way is not the same as going the way.
While the first step to any achievement is knowing what you want, completing the journey requires the courage to do whatever it takes to get there. Make today the day that you take action on your dreams.
“A dream becomes a goal when action is taken toward its achievement.” – Bo Bennett
“Good business leaders create a vision, articulate the vision, passionately own the vision, and relentlessly drive it to completion.” – Jack Welch
“Dream as if you’ll live forever, live as if you’ll die today.” – James Dean
Vision without action is just a dream
Joel Barker author of, Paradigms: The Business of Discovering the Future, said that “vision without action is a dream. Action without vision is simply passing the time. Action with vision is making a positive difference.”
Don’t just “seem to” an attitude of success, make it real. Start today on the road to having an attitude of success, backed up with vision and action by acting on the questions included in this article. Then ask yourself at least one power question a day that can move you closer to achieving the personal and business success you desire. Be sure to act on your answers. Oone of my favorite Chinese proverbs is “Talk don’t cook rice”. These four words summarize what is needed for real and lasting success.
